LINNET-FERNDOWN COMMON-MAY 2010

The Linnet is another resident of lowland heathland. The male in the breeding season acquires a rosy-pink patch on its crown and breast. Like the Stonechat the male can be found perched on the top of prominent gorse and bramble where it delivers its twittering, warbling song. I find these birds a real challenge to photograph as they are somewhat flighty if you get too close. A challenge for the future to get some detailed shots.
